Become qualified to perform DOT-regulated urine drug screen collections through practical, instructor-led training based on the requirements of 49 CFR Part 40.
WeAssure Screening Services provides hands-on collector training designed to build both regulatory knowledge and practical collection skills. Training covers the complete DOT collection process, common problem collections, documentation requirements, specimen integrity, and the situations collectors are likely to encounter in the field.
Under 49 CFR Part 40 §40.33, a collector must successfully complete two components before performing DOT urine specimen collections:
Collectors must receive instruction covering the DOT collection process, proper completion and transmission of the Federal Custody and Control Form (CCF), problem collections, fatal and correctable flaws, specimen security, employee privacy, and the collector's responsibilities throughout the collection process.
After completing qualification training, the collector must demonstrate proficiency by successfully completing five consecutive error-free mock collection scenarios in accordance with DOT Rule 49 CFR Part 40 §40.33.
WeAssure offers qualification training and proficiency demonstrations separately or together as a complete qualification package.
Participants complete the required class instruction and assessment, followed by five consecutive error-free mock collections.
Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate documenting the training and proficiency requirements of 49 CFR Part 40.
For individuals who need the required DOT collector qualification training but will complete their proficiency demonstrations with another qualified trainer or monitor.
For individuals who have already completed compliant DOT collector qualification training and need to complete their required proficiency demonstrations.
WeAssure can bring complete DOT collector qualification training directly to employers, clinics, occupational health providers, and organizations training multiple collectors.
Standard onsite training is available for groups of up to 10 participants.
Larger groups may require additional scheduling and customized arrangements.
Onsite training is offered as the complete qualification program only. Qualification-training-only and proficiency-demonstration-only options are available through our classroom training.
Each Additional Participant – $250
2 trainees — $900 total
3 trainees — $1,150 total
5 trainees — $1,650 total
10 trainees — $2,900 total
Training includes practical instruction addressing situations collectors may encounter during actual DOT collections, including insufficient specimens, temperature concerns, suspected tampering, refusals, documentation problems, and other collection complications.
Participants learn how to recognize a problem, determine the appropriate DOT procedure, properly document the situation, and protect the integrity of the collection.
Classroom training is available in the Kansas City area for individuals and small groups.
Live instruction allows participants to ask questions, work through collection scenarios, practice documentation procedures, and receive direct feedback before completing their formal proficiency demonstrations.
Participants who successfully complete the Complete Qualification Package receive a Certificate of Completion documenting completion of DOT urine specimen collector qualification training and the required Initial Proficiency Demonstration.
Participants completing only the proficiency demonstration receive documentation of successful completion of their five consecutive error-free mock collections.
Collectors are responsible for maintaining their qualification records and providing them when requested by DOT agency representatives, employers, or TPAs using or considering their collection services.
Training is led by an active drug and alcohol testing professional with hands-on experience conducting DOT and non-DOT collections in the field.
Instruction goes beyond ideal collection scenarios to address the documentation issues, problem collections, unusual circumstances, and practical decisions collectors encounter while performing real testing.
No previous specimen collection experience is required for the complete qualification course.
Under 49 CFR Part 40 §40.33, collectors must complete refresher training at least once every five years to maintain their qualification while error correction training mandatory any time a collector commits a fatal flaw,
WeAssure also offers both of these requirements to support collectors in maintaining their DOT collection qualification.
Streamlined five-year refresher training for experienced DOT collectors, reviewing the complete collection process, problem collections, fatal and correctable flaws, collector responsibilities, advanced documentation procedures, regulatory changes, knowledge assessment, and required proficiency demonstrations.
Focused retraining for collectors who require error correction training following a collection-process error that caused a DOT test to be cancelled.
Error correction training focuses specifically on the subject matter area associated with the error and includes the required proficiency demonstration.
Whether you are entering the drug testing industry, adding DOT collections to your existing services, or qualifying collection personnel for your organization, WeAssure provides live, practical training designed to prepare collectors for real-world DOT collections.
